Any good spots for fishing near Prague? (not tourist traps pls)

Hey all — I’m kinda new to Prague (been here about 3 months) and starting to get the itch to go fishing again. I used to go all the time back in the UK, mostly small lakes or rivers, nothing fancy, just a few hours to chill with a rod and hopefully a beer.

I've seen people along the Vltava with gear but I’m not sure if that’s legal or some local thing you need a license for? Do I need a permit or a club membership to fish legally here?

Also looking for tips on calm, quiet spots that aren’t totally crowded or touristy. I don’t need a trophy carp or anything, just some peace and maybe a few bites. Even somewhere a bit outside Prague is cool if it’s reachable by train or bus.

Would love recommendations if anyone here fishes — or if you're into it too maybe we can grab a line and go sometime! 🎣

Cheers!

Try Hostivař dam early in the morning. Also there’s a calm spot in Černošice by the river bend — locals fish there a lot. Yes, you’ll need a license though, pretty strict here.
